Be sure to also check out this weeks recipe request, below. -- Cranberry Bars 1 box white or yellow cake mix 1 can cranberry sauce 1 stick of butter 1 9x13 pan greased or sprayed Put one half of dry mix in pan, pat it down. Slice cranberry sauce and layer over mix. Dot with butter, pour the remaining mix evenly over the top, Dot with remaining butter. Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool and cut . Yummy
My aunt made these when i was a kid. She also made with cream cheese " in place of butter in center" Really Rich. Linda

Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled 1 tsp almond extract 1 1/2 cups flour 2 cups fresh cranberries 1/2 cup chopped, toasted pecans or almonds
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 9 inch square baking pan. With an electric mixer, beat sugar and eggs in large bowl until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Beat in melted butter and almond extract. Add flour and stir until well blended. Stir in cranberries and nuts.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 50-60 minutes. Transfer to rack to cool.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving

HI. This may be the recipe that John R is looking for . It is from Cooking Down East by Marjorie Standish. It is called Cranberry Crunch.
1 cup quick-cooking oatmeal 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1 stick margarine 1 (1-pound) can whole cranberry sauce
Mix oatmeal, flour and brown sugar together. Cut in the stick of margarine until mixture is crumbly. Pack 1/2 of this mixture into a greased 8x8 inch baking pan.
Cover with whole cranberry sauce. Top with the remaining crumb mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream. A very easy and quick dessert and very rich.
