Glenda requested a recipe for "Long Johns". Here is one response that came in this week.. Be sure to also check out this weeks recipe request, below. -- 2 c. scaled milk 5 tbsp. shortening 5 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 c. warm water 2 pkg. dry yeast Flour
FROSTING FOR LONG JOHNS:
2 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. mapleine
Add water to make frosting thick enough to spread. Spread while warm.
Cool milk. Add all other ingredients except flour. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Cover and let raise until doubled in size. Punch down and let raise again for 1 hour.
Turn on floured surface roll out 1 inch thickness cut with pizza cutter or donut cutter.
