<description>Offered for your consideration is this original Roseville Pottery Brown Gardenia Handled Vase.   The 10 inch Vase is in excellent condition with only age related crazing and very light. The Bowl is 5.25 inches wide handle to handle, with rich deep colors and a wonderful crisp mold. It is properly Embossed Roseville USA 685-10 quot;.   This stunning Brown Gardenia Vase is a real collectors item. Gardenia is a late period pattern introduced by Roseville Pottery in 1950. Standard colors include brown, green, and gray. Although Roseville advertised 40 shapes, the factory stock pages show 39. Gardenia shapes include vases, jardineres, pedestals, baskets, ewers, cornucopias, bowls, window boxes, wall pockets, bookends, and candlesticks.   .... HISTORY ..... The Roseville Pottery Company was founded in 1890. Roseville initially produced simple utilitarian ware such as flower pots, stoneware, umbrella stands, cuspidors, and limited painted ware.   In 1900, Roseville Rozane became the first high quality art pottery high gloss glazed line produced by Roseville . In 1904, Frederick Rhead became art director for Roseville pottery. Rhead was responsible for the production of scarce art pottery lines such as Fudji, Crystalis, Della Robbia, and Aztec. In the early teens as demand for the more expensive, hand-crafted art pottery declined Roseville pottery shifted production to more commercially produced pottery. In 1919, Frank Ferrel succeeded Harry Rhead   Fredericks brother  as art director for Roseville pottery.  Condition: VG-lite geneal crazing      Measurements  LxWxH : 5.5 inches x 5 inches x 10.25 inches</description>
