Taylor & Ng 1983 Minimals Elephant mug, designed by San Francisco potter and enamelist Win Ng and his partner in their consumer goods business.

The mug was Made in Japan but sold in San Francisco. Part of Ng's design production not seen as often as his large Orgy series featuring different animals in compromising poses.

There is a signautre of Win Ng on the side of the mug near the base between two of the elephants legs. Signed and dated 1983. On the bottom is a large circular mark stating: Designed by Taylor & Ng San Francisco. Inside the circle one sees the same elephant design on the outside of the mug in an outline form above the words MINIMALS 1983 TAYLOR & NG, and Made in Japan. It is in excellent vintage condition with no scratches to the colored parts, chips or cracks.

These mugs are quite collectible on the West Coast.

Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of America's past. Sturdy, dependable, dishwasher-friendly, it is ready for your kitchen table today.  This coffee mug was made for the Massachusetts Audubon Society and may have been purchased at their Joppe Flats center. It holds 8 ounces and features on one side the logo of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and on the other side a large decoration of an American Kestrel atop a pine tree, done by artist RD Scott in 1988.

If you are a birder who loves to own items related to your birding passion or if you have gone on one of the many wonderful excursions or trip offered by Mass Audubon, here is a lovely way to remind yourself of them on a daily basis. Item is in excellent condition and ready for your home.

Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of America's past. Sturdy, dependable, dishwasher-friendly, it is ready for your kitchen table today.  Syracuse China is today one of the world's leading suppliers of commercial china for the foodservice industry. With over a century and a quarter of continuity, the firm can claim a rich heritage of product innovation and pride in an enduring quality of craftsmanship that has been passed from one generation to the next. It is still in operation and owned by Libbey.

This diner or restaurant coffee mug comes from the era in which they specialized in hotel/restaurant/railroad china ware of which this is a good example. It is marked simply, with the two words Syracuse China under the glaze on the bottom.

What is unusual about this mug is the decoration on it. Two ice cream cones, a parfait, and a hamburger are done in sgraffito style incising and a butterscotch yellow applied to the lines, giving it a bit of a three dimensional appeal.

This 3 1/2 inch tall coffee mug may seem skimpy by today's Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts standards, but at the time it was made in the 1950-1970 period, this was a standard size for a coffee mug. It holds exactly 8 ounces a "cup" of coffee.

Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of America's past. Sturdy, dependable, dishwasher-friendly, it is ready for your kitchen table today.  Measuring 4 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches in diameter, this is a medium size pitcher in the Village pattern with brown trim. The Village pattern was first introduced in 1975 and discontinued in 1976 with only a few choice pieces made since then. Standard in relief mark on the bottom of the piece. There is a rim flake on the bottom inside rim, barely visible when it sits on a flat surface. Buy it and use it with no fear.

From the Pfaltzgraff website:

The warm earth tones of the 1970's inspired this interpretation of historic Pfaltzgraff salt-glazed crocks. Village dinnerware has a classic Early American look that has remained popular for many years, and continues as a strong decorating style today.

No chips or cracks- may have light craze appropriate to age - no discoloration- excellent/very good condition. I have always been sort of obsessed with these items as I think they show "everyday elegance" of the time!  The Buffalo Pottery Company was established in Buffalo, New York, in 1901. It was an offshoot of the Larkin Soap Company, which was founded in 1875. John Larkin and his brother-in-law Elbert Hubbard conceived Buffalo Pottery to make dishes that could be purchased with certificates from Larkin Soap. In essence, the company was a gimmick to sell more soap. Buffalo Pottery produced many different kinds of pottery for commercial use in hotels and railroad dining cars, as well as art pottery that is popular with antique collectors.

Buffalo Pottery completely shifted to commercial grade china in the 1920s and 1930s. This is an example from that time period.

It measures 6 1/4 inches wide and features a thick green band near the rim and a thinner green band near the inside rim. It is in excellent vintage condition. Go green! Buy a piece of 20th century American made pottery today. Use it without fear. Dishwasher-friendly.

This Flow Bowl style Bowl has so much character. I don't know the pattern or who made it but it is early and looks English to me. It has a floral and cross hatch type pattern at the top. It is 4 1/2" in diameter and 2 7/8" high with a small footed base. It is unmarked but has the kiln marks on the bottom (see photo). No chips or cracks- it does have crazing and discoloration on one side under the floral design. Please look at all photos as they say it better that me. A lovely display piece in a Victorian or cottage decor or add to a Flow Blue collection.  9" heavy Restaurant Ware Plate in the Adam pattern by Warwick China. The most noticeable discolorations are 2 spots on the underside of the Lid (see 3rd photo). The platinum trim is very good. Overall, this is a very nice serving piece of Harker Amy China and would make a nice addition to your table or Set.  One plate carries a date stamp of 1943. Quietly, sohisticated Cream and Sugar Set marked V & B Made in Luxembourg. The exterior is Black with a pinkish Salmon interior glaze and gold trimmed edge. Approx 2 1/2" high and in excellent condition. Price is for the Set at  Made by Royal Sebring in Ohio, this large round platter measures 13 1/4 inches in diameter. It is almost a perfect match for Taylor Smith Taylor's yellow Luray color. In fact, in one book I checked, Lois Lehner's Encyclopedia of American Marks, she raises the possibility that Royal Sebring was taken over by Taylor Smith Taylor in the 1940s. In any case, what you have is a big bold piece of American dinnerware which has great graphic display appeal for a retro or country kitchen look.

Being born in Pennsylvania myself and of Pennsylvania Dutch heritage, I appreciate the classic "Dutchy" references in this design: the hex sign on the stone barn, the tulip motif of the rim, and the women in bonnets. Various scenes of farm life are depicted: scything wheat, picking apples, a team of oxen, a pitchfork in the hay, a split rail fence, harvesting corn by hand, stacking pumpkins. There are 11 people shown in the scenes. The rim features a dancing young couple in four different poses amid a stylized abstract PA Dutch floral band.

The platter is in excellent shape. In the backstamp, it looks like it was produced in 1952. A great plate which would go along well with your Luray collection.

This is really a favotite of mine. I love these Canisters. This is made by Pruinton Pottery and has the hand painted Apple and Pear design.
